Barefoot shoe manufacturing in Europe

Zero-drop, wide toe box, foot-shaped last.

A barefoot shoe is a zero-drop, minimally-cushioned, foot-shaped shoe designed to let the foot move as it does when unshod. Comfortspain represents the European barefoot cluster inside the broader Spanish footwear industry: factories with dedicated foot-shaped lasts, flexible soles and wide toe-box construction, produced to EU REACH standards with transparent supply chains.

What a *Spanish barefoot* shoe looks like

Our partners produce footwear on foot-shaped lasts with 10–14% extra toe-box volume versus conventional lasts. Soles are 4.0–4.5 mm at the forefoot, zero heel-to-toe drop, with a tread pattern that delivers grip and flexibility. Uppers are typically leather, waxed canvas, recycled polyester or responsibly-sourced suede. Linings follow barefoot standards: no arch support, no metatarsal pad, no heel counter.

Construction methods: cemented (minimalist sneakers, sandals), Strobel + direct-attach (flexible trainers).

Who the line is *not* for

Barefoot is not designed for performance-running brands targeting elite athletes — that segment is already covered by other specialised manufacturers. Nor is it for cheap mass-market fast-fashion.

It is built for wellness retail, DTC brands, outdoor and hiking crossover categories, and physiotherapy/podology specialists who are tired of explaining Asian supply-chain risks to their customers.

Sole-less footwear categories

Three barefoot categories,
one last family.

Our barefoot line is built on a single family of foot-shaped lasts, extended into three retail categories. Consistent fit across the range, consistent look-and-feel.

Barefoot footwear FAQ

Questions about barefoot footwear.

What customers and buyers most often ask about minimalist shoes.

What is a barefoot or natural shoe?
"Barefoot" means without shoes. This kind of footwear is designed to protect the foot from external elements (asphalt, stones, cold) without interfering with its natural movement. The aim is for your feet to walk and develop as if you were barefoot.
What are the main characteristics of barefoot shoes?
• Wide toe box: space for the toes to spread and not pile up. • Thin and flexible sole: lets you feel the ground and stimulates nerve endings. • Zero drop: completely flat. Heel and toe sit at the same height, respecting the natural alignment of the spine. • No artificial anatomic elements: no arch-support insoles or artificial cushioning, allowing the foot to work and strengthen on its own.
Why should I switch to barefoot footwear?
Walking in barefoot shoes strengthens the muscles of the foot and legs, improves balance, corrects posture and helps prevent common issues such as bunions, plantar fasciitis or claw toes.
It is my first time — do I need an adaptation period?
Yes, it is strongly recommended. Your feet and calves have been "lazy" for years thanks to the rigid heeled soles of conventional footwear. Start by wearing them for a few hours a day or on short walks, and gradually increase the time as your muscles wake up and strengthen.
How do I know my barefoot size?
In barefoot footwear, free space is essential. Do not look for a "snug" fit. When measuring your foot (heel to big toe), add a margin of 0.8–1.2 cm of room for adults (and 1.0–1.5 cm for children) so the toes can expand while walking.
They feel too wide or large at the toes — is that normal?
It is the correct sensation. It may look unusual at first, but your toes need that space to expand with each step. If the shoe does not slip at the heel or instep, the size is right.
Can they be used for running or sport?
We have models for daily use (casual) and others designed for sport or trail. If you plan to run in them, the transition should be even slower and more deliberate, adapting your technique to a metatarsal (forefoot) strike instead of a heel strike.
Are they suitable for orthotic insoles?
Barefoot footwear is designed to let the foot strengthen on its own, so supportive insoles are usually contradictory. However, if you use prescription insoles, many of our models allow you to remove the barefoot insole and insert yours, still benefiting from the wide toe box. Consult your podologist first.
Do you produce vegan barefoot shoes?
Yes. We can offer models made with vegan materials.
Do your barefoot shoes have arch support?
No. That would defeat the point. Our barefoot line is genuinely flat, unsupported and flexible. For customers seeking minimal arch support with a barefoot aesthetic, we recommend our BIOS Sandals line, which uses a cork footbed under a neutral arch.
